In that capacity, Gencovery collects and processes information about you, some of which makes it possible to identify you. Such information is referred to as "personal data".

What data, and what is it used for?

Data you provide to us voluntarily when accessing our services

In the course of our dealings — for example to perform a contract between us, to subscribe you to our newsletters or to set up your personal space on our sites and/or applications — you provide us with certain personal data (email address, first name, age, and so on).

When you contact any of our departments, we must retain some of your personal data in order to follow up on your requests and organise our activity. This applies for example when you contact our support team, report a problem to us, or wish to take up a particular commercial offer.

Statistical data and personal data we collect automatically

Anonymous statistics. We may collect anonymous data for the statistical analysis of how our services are used (number of connections, access times, and so on). This data contains no personal data and has no impact on, nor poses any threat to, your privacy.

Cookies. We use, for example, connection and browsing cookies. A cookie is the equivalent of a small text file stored on the user's device. Data derived from internet protocols. Use of the internet and the web may involve protocols or standards that use or require particular technologies such as scripts, web beacons (possibly invisible) or automatic redirects (from one page to another). These technologies give us information about your use of our services.

We use these technologies to guarantee a better level of service, in particular by personalising your experience according to your usage habits and interests.

Through these internet technologies, Gencovery collects information (some of which is personal data) in order to better know and understand:

the viewing and reading of our emails and access to our content.

Technical data from mobile devices. Some devices can provide you with a number of services that require us to interact with them. For example, when you ask to be informed in real time, or when your device adapts your notifications to your location.

Through these internet technologies, Gencovery collects information (some of which is personal data) in order to:

provide contextual services matched to the user's preferences;
provide advertising matched to the user's interests and device;
monitor the audience of our services;
ensure that mobile applications work correctly.

We remind you that you can at any time prevent certain data from being transmitted in this way, by configuring your device not to transmit it. In that case, and in accordance with applicable regulations, we do not collect that data.

Data inferred by cross-referencing. From a body of existing general and anonymous data, we may infer certain information about you by cross-referencing or statistical extrapolation. This information may contain personal data, which we protect and use in accordance with this privacy policy.

Third-party data. In order to provide certain services, in particular those involving third parties, you agree that we may connect to the services offered by those third parties and exchange with them the personal data concerning you that enables us to carry out the action for which we communicate it. For example, when you accept an interconnection with third-party services (such as social networks), the connection through that social network's interface, which contains some of your personal data, may require us to access that personal data.

Sensitive data. Within the meaning of applicable regulations, sensitive data means any information concerning racial or ethnic origin, political, philosophical or religious opinions, trade union membership, health or sexual life.

Data relating to minors

Access to our services is in principle reserved for adults.

By way of exception, and unless specifically stated otherwise, minors may access our services if they have obtained the prior agreement of their legal representative. Such persons remain in any event subject to the laws that protect them.

The data we collect about you enables us to provide our services under good conditions.

In compliance with applicable laws and regulations, we will in particular use your personal data for the following operations.

To provide our services: account/profile management, customer relations, access rights management, information and survey campaigns, subscriptions (alerts, newsletters, and so on).
